Este campo giratorio induce tensiones en el rotor generando corrientes en el mismo.<\/p>\n<p>El campo y la corriente que interact\u00faan entre s\u00ed provocan la aparici\u00f3n de fuerzas que dan lugar al conjugado (par) del motor, haciendo girar el rotor.<\/p>\n<p>El rotor, si girara a velocidad sincr\u00f3nica, tendr\u00eda la misma velocidad que el campo giratorio del estator (inductor) y, por las reglas de la inducci\u00f3n, no habr\u00eda tensi\u00f3n inducida en el rotor y, en consecuencia, no habr\u00eda par. El motor dejaba de girar.<\/p>\n<p>Normalmente presenta una velocidad ligeramente inferior a la velocidad sincr\u00f3nica y esta diferencia en porcentaje se denomina deslizamiento.
